(Video) Iraqi journalist throws shoes at George Bush

An Iraqi journalist Muntazar al-Zaidi, threw his two shoes at George Bush as Bush was shaking hands with Iraq's Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, during a press conference held in Baghdad. Immediately security guards caught the journalist Zaidi, who is a reporter with Cairo based network Al Baghdadia TV.

The journalist was sitting in the third row and he jumped up and shouted: “It is the farewell kiss, you dog,” and threw both his shoes one by one towards George Bush. George Bush managed to duck the first one, but the second shoe narrowly missed hitting him.

In Arab society, shoes soles are considered to be the ultimate insult to a person.

When asked about the incident, George Bush told the media, "So what if the guy threw his shoe at me?"

"Let me talk about the guy throwing his shoe. It's one way to gain attention. It's like going to a political rally and having people yell at you. It's like driving down the street and having people not gesturing with all five fingers.

"It's a way for people to draw attention. I don't know what the guy's cause is. But one thing is for certain. He caused you to ask me a question about it. I didn't feel the least bit threatened by it.

Some Iraqi security guards also took away two other Iraqi journalists who had termed Zaidi's protest as "courageous."
