Telugu actresses Saira Banu and Jyoti were arrested for prostitution along with seven other women, in Hyderabad, after they were caught red handed by the Hyderabad police. Saira Banu has played lead roles in some Telugu films, while Jyoti has worked as a supporting actress in many movies.
All these women, including an Uzbekistan woman were arrested along with their customers from an apartment in the posh Kundan Bagh area. Kundan Bagh area is a high-security zone where many ministers, MLAs, bureaucrats and VIPs live.
Saira Banu told the media that she was innocent and that she had gone to the apartment at 11.00 p.m. to meet a producer for some discussions on a movie role, when the police raided the apartment at 11.30 p.m.
This is another shock for the Telugu film industry because just a few days ago two brothers of actor Ravi Teja had been arrested for buying drugs from a Nigerian man.
The Police Commissioner had revealed to the media that the police were closely watching 60 celebrities including Telugu actors and actresses for using drugs.
