The Shah Rukh Khan - Aamir Khan rivalry for the top spot in Bollywood just seems to be getting worse. Imagine seeing Aamir Khan everywhere in the theatre while you have gone to see a Shah Rukh Khan movie! Aamir Khan and his producers have ensured that moviegoers will see replicas of Aamir in theatres, since all theatre staff including ticket sellers, movie ushers and food court staff will be seen with Aamir's now much copied buzz-cut Ghajini look, at multiplexes such as PVR, Cinemax, Big Cinemas etc.
In marketing terms, this is called as ambush marketing and it is reportedly Aamir Khan's idea. This move by Aamir Khan will ensure that moviegoers who go to theatres to see Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will be reminded of Aamir's Ghajini. Ghajini will release on 25th December across India with 1500 prints, which will be a new record breaking the one set by Akshay Kumar's movie 'Singh is King'.
The rivalry between Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan had intensified when Aamir supported Salman Khan who had a fight with Shah Rukh Khan during Katrina Kaif's birthday party. Aamir had even written on his blog that his dog was named Shah Rukh and that Shah Rukh was licking his feet and that he used to feed him biscuits.
Shah Rukh Khan himself is not averse to making fun of his rivals and cracks jokes at their expense during awards shows and functions. Well, it would interesting to see how Shah Rukh Khan responds to this latest salvo from Aamir Khan.
