Sony has entered the netbook segment which is the fastest growing segment in computers, with the launch of its VAIO W Series Netbook.
The Sony VAIO W Series netbook has a 10.1-inch wide-screen LED-backlit display, 1366x768 pixel resolution, 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD and runs on Windows XP.
The Sony VAIO W Series netbook also has Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n, Ethernet, webcam, VGA-out, two USB ports, and MemoryStick/SD card readers and is 1.3 inches thick and weighs 2.6 pounds. It has a 3-cell battery which will last for three hours (there is an option for a 6-cell battery)
The Sony VAIO W Series Netbook comes bundled with VAIO Media plus Multimedia Streaming software, which lets users wirelessly stream content across DLNA-enabled devices such as PC and PlayStation 3, throughout the home network.
Sony VAIO W series netbooks will be available in three colors, i.e. berry pink, cocoa brown and sugar white from mid-August at a price of $499 (Rs. 24,200 approx.)
