Samsung has unveiled its latest eco-friendly full touchscreen mobile phone called 'Blue Earth'. Samsung Blue Earth is pebble shaped and is made from a recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from used water bottles. (Click to enlarge images)
Samsung Blue Earth has a solar panel on the backside of the phone, which charge the phone in sunlight. The mobile phone and the charger, are devoid of harmful substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate.
Samsung Blue Earth has features such as 'eco walk' which indicates to the user how many steps have been taken (with the in-built pedometer) and how how much CO2 emission you have managed to save by walking instead of taking a car. It also has a 'eco-mode' which allows the user to optimize Bluetooth, screen brightness and backlight duration.
Samsung's Blue Earth will be initially launched in UK by the second half of 2009. There is no information on pricing of this eco-friendly phone, as yet.
